What is it that keeps guests returning to Myrtle Grove again and again? Is it the house and grounds? The wonderful feeling of being in the country? The endless collections to see? For most, it’s the food.
One of the best things that make Myrtle Grove a wonderful venue for your special event is the on-site catering. Just like the house and grounds, the catering at Myrtle Grove is above and beyond what you would typically expect, because the owners and staff go out of their way to make sure you and your guests have a truly unique and memorable experience.
All you have to do is decide on the look and feel that’s right for your event, and Joe, Dan, and the rest of the Myrtle Grove staff will work with you to create exactly what you have in mind, whether your event is at Myrtle Grove or another venue.
Quilt top table cloths, pottery, cast iron, copper, pewter, wooden carving boards, and even a wooden wagon that doubles as a serving table can help create a rustic, down home feel for your outdoor cookout. If you’re planning something more formal, Myrtle Grove’s beautiful collection of antique silver, china, glassware, and fine linens will leave your guests feeling as though they have travelled back to 1842.
When asked about his culinary training, Joe gives all of the credit to his mother and grandmother. “My mother and grandmother taught me not to be afraid of experimenting. If something is good, it can be even better,” he says. “They also taught me that food is an art form and a gift. It can add joy to a happy occasion, comfort in times of sadness, and is the best tool to bring family and friends together. I have based the idea and concept of what we do here at Myrtle Grove on my experiences growing up, when we would visit my grandparents’ house. They were big entertainers and wonderful hosts. Everyone was always welcome, and the warm feeling that you got from their home remained with you throughout your journey, no matter how far your travels took you.”
